The event is organised yearly by the Italian Agile Movement which in 2004 decided to bring to Italy a format similar to the one used by successful conferences in Europe, including XPDay London.

These conferences however originated around eXtreme Programming topics and only later expanded to include all Agile methodologies and themes, while the Italian Agile Day started from the beginning with a keen interest in all the facets of the Agile and Lean world. Plus, IAD has always been a free event.

This year the organization of the Agile Day is in collaboration with the Computer Science Department of the University of Milan.
